Suitable for: Mature tweens and up, although adults may bask in its nostalgic setting. Alcohol and drug use: No drugs, but some alcohol appears to be consumed. Another bear tries to get to Merida (again, she's not hurt), and two bears engage in battle. Hunters mistake the mama bear for a killer animal and go after her. Unable to fight her instincts, she takes a swipe at her daughter, but the girl is not harmed. (Spoiler alert!) A spell is cast on Merida's mother and she becomes woozy and is transformed into a bear. One rears up and bites off the leg of Merida's dad - you don't watch the chomping, but later see the king with a peg leg. Violence/scary situations: Merida is thrown from her horse and rowdy men get into rollicking fights, but the scariest scenes involve bears. Some men remove their kilts and you can see their bare bottoms in a brief scene played for laughs. Sexual situations and nudity: A man in a kilt lifts the back of his skirt, but you see nothing naughty. ![]() But she encounters a witch who grants her wish to change her mother, not realizing what she's about to do.
